Years of experience on the field of occupational health and work show that the risk of an accident at work or developing an occupational disease is significantly higher for employees in the approx. 4,000 small and medium enterprises insured with StBG. In reaction to this, StBG established the Employer's Model as an alternative model to the statutory care performed by commercial service providers, taking the special position of the employer into account. Its aim is to inform and motivate the employer to implement risk assessment strategies in his company. The employer joins four seminars spanning over two days each, held by StBG specialists and additional courses in the future, enabling him to assess safety critical points at his company. At any time he can request StBG's safety engineers and company physicians. The safety engineers will consult the employer, for example when investing into new equipment or redesign work processes. StBG physicians are specialized in ocupational medicine and consult the company owner in questions such as ergonomics, first aid, alcohol abuse at the workplace and other matters. Experience and Feedback Due to the practical relevance, seminars are highly apprechiated by the employers taking part. More than 80 % have chosen the Employer's Model over the statutory care and consider the StBG rather a partner than a regulatory authority. The branch specifity grants high quality and leads to high acceptance.
