In order to motivate employers to invest in safety and health, StBG has installed an incentive system.
Premiums are financed by additional charges to companies producing less-than-average safety and health results. The targets of the bonus system are to
  • support innovations
  • establish positive material incentives
  • promote the implementation of best practice solutions
  • meet the demands of insured companies
  • increase employers motivation to invest in occupational safety

Premiums are paid for
  • Introduction of occupational safety and health management systems
    • First acquisition of the StBG "Systematic Safety" Quality Seal or other managmentsystems such as SCC or OHSAS 18001, if they fulfill the criterias of the ILO-guideline
  • Investments in progressive safety measures, e.g.:
    • Installation of camera systems to improve the back space view
    • Introducing a general eye protector obligation in production departments
    • Investments into systems for the electronic borehole measurement Installation of camera systems to improve the back space view
    • Introducing a general eye protector obligation in production departments
    • Investments into systems for the electronic borehole measurement
  • Investments in progressive measures for improving health conditions, e.g.:
    • Active noise protection (e.g. re-equipment of a concrete block manufacturer on low-noise compression systems)
    • Ergonomic organization of jobs (e.g. height adjustable workbenches)
    • Procurement of well visible clothes
    • Organisation and execution of health programs
  • Extraordinary good results in preventing accidents
    • Relevant are accident free times according to the number of employees
    • Only accidents count, which lead to an inability to work of more than three days
  • Investments in the implementation of Best-practice-solutions, e.g.:
    • Stair entrances for earth-moving machines
    • New tools for low-noise treatment of natural stones
    • New "escape-chute" for the rescue from containers and silos
    • Secure assembly of greater wheels at construction machines
Within the first two years of availibility (2005 and 2006), 1,300 entries have been registred which led to a payment of approx. 2.6 million Euros.
